Aloud! returns for International Writing Centers Week

aloud1

On Monday, the Lincoln Park Student Center hosted the second installment of DePaul’s new writing series Aloud! The series, begun in 2012 and sponsored by the University Center for Writing-based Learning, showcases some of the best creative writing by DePaul students, faculty, and alumni. Monday’s show, as part of the UCWbL’s event calendar for International Writing Centers Week, featured fiction by Justin Staley, Jillian Merrifield, and Elizabeth Kerper, poetry by David Matthews, Richard Rodriguez, and Emma CushmannWood, a non-fiction essay by Raul Palma, and a ten-minute one-act play by Maria Genovese. The event itself was a great success, with an audience of about 30-35 people, and was hosted by Writers Guild leader Jen Finstrom and UCWbL Writing Groups Coordinator Mark R. Brand.

If you are interested in taking part in Aloud! in the future, or being a member of DePaul’s popular Writers Guild, please contact Jen Finstrom at jfinstro@depaul.edu.
