Check Out Thursday’s Open Mic Night at the Bourgeois Pig Cafe!

Thursday evening from 8 – 10 pm, The Bourgeois Pig Cafe will be hosting an open mic for poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction. Anyone interested in hearing and/or reading some original creative work is welcome! Participants are asked to keep their poems and excerpts to a few minutes each so that everyone has a chance to read. The event has been organized by UCWbL tutor Maria Hlohowskyj and Meredith Boe, students in the MAWP graduate program and members of the DePaul Writer’s Guild.

Many of the participants will be students who have received feedback on their writing from this informal workshop group. The Writer’s Guild is an UCWbL-sponsored, student-lead writing group that currently meets on Thursdays from 4 – 6 pm. DePaul students and alumni from across the university are invited to bring their creative work for friendly discussion. The group will also be holding weekly meetings this summer, so be sure to email writing group leader Jen Finstrom (jfinstro@depaul.edu) with your availability if you would like to participate.
Tomorrow night is sure to be an entertaining literary event and a great opportunity to support undergrad and graduate DePaul writers. Be sure to check out the delicious sandwiches, salads, and coffee drinks that the Bourgeois Pig has to offer while you enjoy the readings. Don’t miss out!
