Just like Emmet from The LEGO Movie, we each have some undiscovered or tacit philosophy and values within our work at the UCWbL and beyond, even though we may be uncertain as to how to realize those values in a concrete building form. Every quarter, tutors at the UWCbL attend at least one inservice—a 90-minute workshop that focuses on a specific aspect of writing or tutoring. This inservice used generative knowledge interviewing (GKI) to uncover our Special and to find the key workings of our tutoring philosophy, even though we do not yet know what those may be. The ultimate goal of this inservice is to find your special, then to compile those unique pieces to our individual tutoring within the genres of our UCWbL ePortfolio.
