How to Be a Better Mentor #1: Attend the PTMS on Oct. 5

DePaul’s third annual Peer Tutor & Mentor Summit takes place Friday, October 5, from 10 AM to 3 PM in Cortelyou Commons. We fervently hope that you will come to this wonderful event! In fact, we have extended the deadline to RSVP to today (September 28).  You can reserve your spot here.  See more info after the jump.  The Summit brings together offices and programs from all across DePaul, giving attendees the chance to hear the best tutoring and mentoring practices of others, as well as to share their own. Not only are we providing breakfast and lunch, but the summit includes plenty of games, discussion activities, and networking opportunities.

A few times this fall, as the UCWbL has trained our new tutors, they’ve asked what advice us veterans would give a beginning UCWbLer. Here’s #1: get involved with as much as you can while you’re working with the UCWbL. There are so many opportunities here, and so many different ways to interact across both the DePaul and the greater Chicagoland community, that it can be difficult to choose.  The Peer Tutor & Mentor Summit is a great place to begin.
