SCRAWL S16 E10: WRITING GROUPS

By January 30, 2017Scrawl Radio

Welcome back Scrawl Nation! For this episode of Scrawl, we examined and decided to create a live on-air writing group.

During the first segment, Brendan P., Kate H., Robert D., and Katherine T. shared how a writing group operates, and how it differs from a regular Writing Center appointment, such as who can show-up, how feedback is given, and what one brings to a meeting. Brendan P. and Kate H. also highlighted their work with Writers Guild, which meets on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6:00-7:30pm in the LPC Writing Center, SAC 212.

During the second segment of the show, Katherine T. shared an interview she conducted with another Writers Guild coordinator, Jen Fi., who also provided us with a writing prompt. With the writing prompt, we demonstrated a live on-air free write, then delved into a writing group discussion where Brendan, Kate, Robert, and Katherine all shared their work and gave each other feedback, detailing word choice and imagery.
