Love Stinks (Scrawl S9 E5)

Professor Chris Green

Hello Scrawl Nation! For this week’s episode, Scrawl featured insights from Chris Green, who is a faculty member and professor at DePaul’s English Department.

In honor of Valentine’s Day, we wanted to look at how people write about love and against love. Professor Green sat down with Scrawl host Brandon Haskey to discuss examples of love and anti-love poems. We learned how poets use evidence in their writing by talking about things that connect to the senses. Also, we looked at how poets use their medium to “write around things” to gain perspective and understanding on the past.

During this episode, Professor Green read one of his poems, “Marriage”, which can be found in his own poetry book The Sky Over Walgreens.

If you want to learn more about poetry and rhetorical devices, then you should check out this episode!
