I’m not quite sure why people make and then give away fonts for free. But for those of us who like typography, there’s thankfully a whole bunch of these types (pun intended) making their work available for free download. I came across an interesting storehouse of designers at someplace called “moorstation.org.” Manfred Klein’s work is particularly compelling–and vast. His fonts are cataloged by year, and there seems to be about a font-a-day in each year’s archive. Klein makes his fonts free to all for all uses, though he suggests a donation to Doctors Without Borders if one uses his fonts for commercial purposes.
