“The World As Text,” an installation at Columbia College Chicago’s Center for Book and Paper Arts, will run for just one more week, until August 12.
ArtForum listed the exhibit as one of its Critics’ Picks for its diverse take on textuality and its nature, offering visitors full access to approximately 75 artists’ books appearing in just about as many forms, ranging from chapbooks to chapter books, from e-books to hand-sewn tomes. The exhibit is dedicated to exploring the nature of the written word, and so many of the books take this up as their subject. I can assure you it’s gonna be tough to find something else that’s this metatextual in the Chicago area, so make sure you drop by before the 12th.
