Thanks to the efforts of the UCWbL dynamic duo Mark Brand and Mark Jacobs, the DePaul Writers Guild has a website for your viewing and reading enjoyment.
It’s still a work in progress, but check out the writer spotlights on the up-and-coming Raul Palma and Dave Matthews, two Writers Guild participants who were both recently published after bringing their projects to the group for workshop. You will also find pictures and video footage of the Writers Guild’s events this past year.
The Writers Guild is an UCWbL-sponsored, student-lead writing group that currently meets on Thursdays from 4 – 6 pm in McGaw 203. DePaul students and alumni from across the University are invited to bring their creative work for friendly discussion (and usually snacks). Members also attend literary events together, including the Molly Malone’s Reading Series in Forest Park, one of Chicago’s longest-running and most successful monthly open mics. The Guild will be holding weekly meetings and attending local events this summer, so be sure to email writing group leader Jen Finstrom (jfinstro@depaul.edu) with your availability if you would like to participate.
Keep your eyes open for additional writer spotlights as well as summer meeting and event information. If you have a work of fiction, creative-nonfiction, poetry, drama, or _______, come and see what this friendly group of writers is all about.
